Meet Jodie

2017-04-27_0001“Hi I’m Jodie, welcome to our website! Where to start? I’m a Floral Designer and Stylist but I suppose that goes without saying. I live in Surrey only a short van ride from the studio, with quite often with the family French bulldogs in tow.

I love what I do and running Boutique Blooms is one of the best adventures I have ever had. I have met some wonderful people and the business has seen me explore a whole new world. There is never a dull moment and no day is the same.

When I was at school my mum always said I should be a florist. Instead I decided to take a rather long winded and alternative journey of university degrees (Textiles followed by Fashion Promotion), countless internships (Marie Claire and Wonderland magazine being the highlights), several part-time jobs (bar girl by night, hospital porter by day) and a spot of work with a Wedding Planner only to discover that ‘Guess what Mum? I want to be florist’, well it turns out a Floral Designer and Stylist to be precise, which is of course an entirely different thing.

A few things you didn’t know about Jodie…

Hunting for treasures in charity shops, carboot sales and flea markets. Nights in watching Netflix with a Thai take away and tub of Haagen Daz ice cream (pralines & cream or just good old vanilla please). Animals; cats and dogs or basically anything new born and furry. Reading a book whilst sunbathing on the beach (or by a pool, either is perfectly acceptable). Treating myself to ginormous scented candles and a vase of something pretty from my latest trip to the flower market. Board games, particularly ones I am good at winning.

Bad Habits…

Too many hours spent trawling Pinterest creating various ‘dream’ boards. Getting into clean bed sheets with a layer of freshly applied fake tan…oops. Waiting impatiently for absolutely anything…a phone call, a bus, dinner (‘hangry’ is an actual condition). Making up my own lyrics to songs on the radio. Collecting various items for whatever my latest interiors project is, more often than not this results in very limited storage for anything else (aka my long suffering boyfriend’s worldly possessions).

Couldn’t live without…

Puddings or in general any kind of sugary treat, late night pudding trips have become a bit of a problem. A slick of lipstick and some OTT earrings…giving the appearance of being made up when in fact it is yet another jeans and t-shirt kind of day. My biggest cheerleaders; my wonderful family who are always there to lend a hand and offer their unconditional love and support.
